Silk was born Fredericton New Brunswick Canada. She was the daughter of Peter, an academic, as well as Ilkay Silk, an acclaimed actress as well as a producer, director, playwright, educator, as well as Director of Drama in St. Thomas University. Anna recounts some of the first moments in her existence when she would go to see her mother during play rehearsals. Silk produced a number of commercials when she was still a kid. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Arts from St. Thomas University in 1997. Early theater work has included at least two productions with Theatre St. Thomas: Seven Menus and The Kitchen. Silk moved to Toronto for her acting to improve in November of 1999. The following decade saw her move into Los Angeles. Seth Cooperman met Silk at an acting workshop at Los Angeles in 2007. They were engaged in 2009, then they were married at an official ceremony in December of that year. The couple renewed their vows on April 10, 2011, in Fredericton in a Jewish ceremony after becoming an observant Jew.
